Thoughts on the brand new NARS Natural Radiant Longwear foundation

I saw the brand new NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation online last week, but my local Ulta doesn’t stock it and I knew it would be really difficult to match my foundation color online, so I put the idea on hold for awhile. By luck, I found myself in another Ulta the other day, and they had it! The display was so new that some of the colors hadn’t even been pumped yet, so naturally, I couldn’t wait to play.

very opaque – not watery or runny at all!

another swatch…just a tiny bit rubbed on the underside of my arm this time

After some testing of the different shades, Mont Blanc ended up being a perfect match for me (their second lightest shade, described as light with pink undertones). I love radiant finishes, and this one doesn’t disappoint! It really does look very natural – it provides a “my skin but better” look, instead of that obvious, sometimes cake-y look that so many foundations unfortunately tend to give.

the signature NARS packaging…very luxe!

It gave me full coverage, even on a few pesky acne bumps I’m currently dealing with. It even camouflaged my dark under-eye circles, which are always a fun ongoing battle. I used a setting powder after applying it (I used Tarte Smooth Operator, but there are sooo many great one out there to choose from!) to help with the longevity.  It lasted a full day on me with no touch-ups, but the redness of my acne bumps did peek through a bit after a few hours.

my angry, red acne bumps look a LOT more tame with this foundation – this is just the foundation (no concealer)!

My favorite thing about it is how well it blends with my natural skin – the right color match probably helps with this, but I feel like the finish truly is very natural.

:For reference, I have oily skin naturally, but it’s dry on my cheeks now due to Retin-A use. I think this could work on any skin type, especially with a primer used before and setting product (powder or spray) after.

Final rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars.  I deducted 1/2 of a star only because of the price.  I think this is a great product, but $49 for one ounce seems like a bit much.  I know it’s on par with other NARS products, but this isn’t quite as revolutionary as I would expect for such a steep price tag.
