My favorite anti-acne mask!

Today, we’re talking about acne.  Or, more importantly, we’re talking about the solution to acne.  It’s something so many of us (including myself) have battled with for a long, long time – well beyond our teen years.  Since I personally struggle with some big breakouts every now and then, I feel like I’ve tried just about every cleanser, gel, and cream out there.  BUT – I’m happy to report that I’ve finally found an anti-acne product that works, even when all the others failed me.

Most over-the-counter acne products are basically the same: they typically contain salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. These ingredients are very effective for some people (lucky ducks!), but not as much for others.

The one ingredient that works the best for me is sulfur.  It’s even marketed as a highly effective ingredient for adult acne, which is clearly my curse.  Happily, I’ve been seeing this ingredient popping up more in anti-acne creams these days.

My favorite anti-acne product containing sulfur is the mask I’m wearing in these pictures: Peter Thomas Roth’s Therapeutic Sulfur Mask.  The price tag is a little hefty ($47), but one jar lasts a really long time.  It only needs to be used a couple of times a week, and a small amount goes a long way.

This is seriously the only product that works for my stubborn adult acne

My savior!

thick consistency, so it’s super easy to apply

If you want to try something less expensive, the AcneFree Therapeutic Sulfur Mask may be a good alternative.  At less than $10, it’s worth a try.  I haven’t used it yet, so if you do, let me know how it works!

A word of caution: sulfur products can stink…literally.  Most of the products contain perfumes that mask the smell, but depending on the product, you can sometimes still smell it a bit.  The Peter Thomas Roth mask has a nice scent, and as long as I wash my face with soap and water when it’s done working, I don’t notice any bad smell later.

Also, don’t leave this on too long. Follow the directions and don’t try to stretch the amount of time to longer – I learned this the hard way.  I thought it would clear up my acne faster, but it just made my skin red and irritated.

Cons aside, this is the only ingredient that has successfully cleared up my last few breakouts.  If you have stubborn acne like me, sulfur could be your solution.

my blog to your article. I would like to add a point as well.
While the principle ingredient in many sunless tanners won’t cause acne, some of the additives, preservatives and solutions might.
