Adorable Purse Sticker…and New Highlights!

Adorable Purse Sticker…and New Highlights!

Something I just have to share: I came across this cute heart sticker while browsing Kate Spade’s sale last week. I hadn’t seen anything like it before, and it’s such a neat idea.

They’re sold out of this exact heart sticker, but they have plenty of other options, including a couple of other hearts – and several of the stickers are on sale!

The directions are really simple – the stickers can adhere to most flat surfaces (handbags, laptops, notebooks, etc), and they suggest using a hairdryer for 10 seconds for better adherence (although not required).

It took me about two minutes to pop this baby on, and that includes the time deliberating on placement. I’m not particularly artistic, but I think it turned out pretty well:

I also need to rave about the Revlon Frost & Glow highlighting kit I used on my hair on Monday. I haven’t been brave enough to blonde my own hair in years (after a few disasters that left me a little scared), but my stylist told me my hair was too damaged to use bleach on it again, and he wouldn’t do it.

I thought about it for awhile, and decided it was a risk I had to take, because I missed my old blonde so much. I remembered using this kit back in college with good results, so I tried it again. I used the included cap and plastic hook, but there are several YouTube tutorials on how to freehand for an ombre look if the cap isn’t your thing.

It isn’t a professional job, but it came out really great and my hair doesn’t feel any more damaged than it was before.  I used Redken Extreme CAT Anti-Damage Protein Reconstructing Rinse-Off Treatment afterward to pamper my hair, and it feels really soft with no breakage. (Note: if you do use a protein treatment, make sure to follow it with a super moisturizing hair mask after. I used L’Oreal Mega Moisture Nurturing Creme, but there are lots of options out there).

Important: make sure the moisturizing mask you use after a protein treatment only contains moisturizing ingredients and not any proteins, since protein overload can be a bad thing, especially without a lot of added moisture to help balance it out.  Many of the “moisturizing” treatments out there contain some pretty heavy proteins, but a quick scan of the ingredients list will let you know for sure..

So, yeah…I feel summery, even in the middle of January! Blonde always brightens my mood. 🙂
